Twenty-five year old Eric Pracht went for a walk without his shoes between midnight and 1am on July 23, 2016. According to police, he was last seen wearing a blue shirt and tan shorts.
He had been drinking with his fiance, Preety, as well as her sister Priyanka and her boyfriend Caleb, at Eric and Preety’s Lakewood, Colorado condo near the base of Green Mountain. They had thrown a little party and everyone had left beside the other couple at this point.
There is a discussion that turns into an argument where Eric and Preety are on opposing sides and become irritated with eachother. They begin cleaning up after the party in silence while Priyanka and Caleb carry on conversation. It is said the argument was about police brutality, and Eric felt strongly because he feared he would be targeted due to being emergency personnel.
Eric takes out the trash down at the dumpster and Preety joins him. A second argument takes place between only Eric and Preety. Eric decides he needs to take a walk to cool off. Preety, Priyanka, and Caleb say that they searched for Eric for a few hours but could not find him.
What I immediately find odd is that, in the morning, Preety contacts the Lakewood Police Department about Eric’s disappearance. She doesn’t call his parents first. Eric was very close with his family, and Preety didn’t consider he perhaps had a family member pick him up so he could spend the night away? Weird.
There was apparently a call from on his cellphone at 5pm on Saturday near Green Mountain. Who was this call to? Was it Eric who placed this call?
Eric’s family has stated he loved being a paramedic, was greatly anticipating an upcoming vacation to Mexico as well as his pending marriage, and had never expressed thoughts of suicide.
There was report of a gun shot heard at late at night/early morning by a neighbor. Interestingly enough, soon after the disappearance, Preety reported one of the guns in their complex as missing.
According to his Eric’s sister, Preety has removed Eric’s family from her life since the disappearance. She said his fiance won’t let them have any of his belongings, and she’s blocked them on all forms of social media. Her parents wouldn’t even put up his flyers in their liquor store.
I believe police drained a pond closeby to his condo to look for him and didn’t find anything but I can’t find links on this; I just remember hearing it somewhere.
“He’s an uncle, a nephew, a brother, a son,” said Marcus Pracht. “We’re all trying to hold it together for each other, but some days are harder than others. You want to be able to keep going with your life, but you don’t want to feel like you’re giving up on him.”
He left his car, clothing, and cash behind. There is a $12,000 reward to anyone that can lead to his location.
Eric’s sister and a few of his friends have now commented on a version of this post that I have on Reddit. They’ve told me a few things:
Preety opened a GoFundMe within two days of Eric going missing to “help pay for their condo because he can’t be declared dead for 7 years”… this is a separate GoFundMe from the one his parents made to help with search costs.
Eric’s family lived about 20 mins away and he was extremely close with them. So it doesn’t really make sense that Preety didn’t check in with his family at all whatsoever to see if he was there. And when she did finally call them, she said he went missing – she did not ask if he was there or if they knew where he was.
Eric NEVER went barefoot anywhere. Ever.
