San Francisco police try and convince a man’s friends he stabbed himself three times for no apparent reason. They then refuse to reopen the case despite the French government, multiple coroners, and other officials saying it is indeed a homicide case, not a suicide. Let’s get into the tragic mystery of the last night of Hugues De La Plaza.

About Hugues

On June 2, 2007, 36-year-old Hugues de la Plaza had enjoyed a rowdy and exciting night out with his close friends at the SF Underground Bar in the Lower Haight. His friends report he was drinking beer, hitting on women, making fun of the people he loved – everything that brought him joy. His eyes crinkled with laughter, and he was in an even better mood than usual as he just landed a considerable promotion at corporate toy giant LeapFrog involving sound engineering, which was his passion.

At closing time, Hugues hugged his friends and departed, quickly making the 10 minute, half-mile walk back to his apartment at 462 Linden Street. A very fuzzy security camera on Linden captured him arriving at his home, a triplex with 3 front doors. After heading in for the night, Hugues made himself a snack of peas and rice (crime scene photos show the unfinished meal), read his email, and his dating profile (dude was popular with the ladies). His last activity appears to have been checking out some real estate in Argentina, where he was considering purchasing property. Hugues was French with citizenship in both France and America, and he was hoping to travel more in the near future – hopefully bringing his parents along, whom he was very close to. He was their only child.

It is truly a tragedy that this man’s dreams were not to be achieved, and his family is left to suffer with many agonizing and unanswered questions.

The Crime

Sometime before 3 a.m., a half-dozing neighbor heard a “thud” come from de la Plaza’s unit.

“Then, as I was listening to noises, I heard [de la Plaza’s] door open and close, then open and close again a few minutes later, and then I heard footsteps running down the stairs,” Orion Denley, a hotel concierge, told the San Francisco Chronicle in 2008.

It was a little startling, but Orion wrote it off as 3am-San Fran-neighbor noises.

“It didn’t sound like a scuffle going on at all,” Orion stated, so naturally, he went back to bed.

As previously stated, this was a triplex, with all 3 entrance doors placed right next to one another. The front porch was shared by all tenants. Early that morning, Hugues and Orion’s other neighbor went out to grab the morning newspaper off their welcome mat as they did every morning. Instead, they were greeted with a disturbing amount of blood. They screamed and called 911, running back inside to safety. Dispatch asked what happened, where the blood came from, etc., and all the neighbor could say was that they had no idea, and to come quick.

Within minutes, two San Francisco police officers arrived on scene. They skulked carefully around the back of the triplex after being unable to make entry through Hugues’ locked front door. The deputies peeked through the kitchen window and saw a lot more blood, so they kicked in the back door in order to gain entry as quickly as possible.

There, a disturbing scene was discovered.

De la Plaza was lying lifeless on his kitchen floor, having bled out. It appeared he had 3 stab wounds in the torso area, The front and back doors had been locked – bolted – from the inside. No windows were forced open. No rummaging around was done and nothing appeared to have been stolen. The most notable things about the scene were an overturned TV and Hugues’ broken, bloodied watch found on the floor under his body.

Interestingly, the scene documented that a notepad on a coffee table had scribbled two quotations derived from a Latin saying: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow,” and “Learn as if you were to live forever.”

Although there was blood all over, only de la Plaza’s footprints were found tracked through the house. He never called 911 for help, or banged on a neighbor’s door, or even a neighboring wall. And, of course, there were the doors being locked from the inside.

These factors contributed to the police thinking that Hugues must have, somehow, done this to himself. However, given his wounds, he would’ve bled out within 1 to 2 minutes and died – there was no time to get help (this is according to multiple coroners who’ve investigated).  Assistant Medical Examiner Dr. Venus Azar was the first coroner on the scene and was confused by all these factors. She also noted it didn’t appear that Hugues was moving in a quick, panicked fashion as victims who get stabbed tend to do. He was moving extremely slowly, perhaps due to bleeding out so quickly or perhaps because he was in shock (as the saying goes, everything happened so fast).

The SFPD began working off the theory that de la Plaza had taken drugs at the bar, come home and killed himself. However, a toxicology screen came back — there were no drugs in de la Plaza’s system when he died.

The knife was NOT located at the scene. How could it be a suicide if the weapon is missing? SFPD initially said, “We did find the knife,” but when it was tested, it only had stains from chopping tomatoes. The family’s disappointment, frustration, and resentment for the investigative team began growing.

Introducing Melissa Nix

A former girlfriend of Mr. de la Plaza, Melissa Nix, dated him for 4 years. They had only recently broken up, mostly due to the strains of having a long distance relationship.

“Hugues was the love of my life,” said Melissa. “Once you fall in love with somebody, there’s always a part of you that loves that person.”

Melissa is a reporter who lived in Virginia at the time of his death (she is now a reporter for the Sacramento Bee). They had always remained close friends regardless of any romantic side to things, and she is absolutely committed to getting justice for her dear friend and his family.

The week his death occurred, she flew to San Francisco and started her own boots-on-the-ground investigation. She couldn’t stand the thought of Hugues slipping through the cracks of America’s (deeply flawed) justice system, and she wanted to help and stand behind Hugues’ grieving parents. In fact, SFPD didn’t even call Hugues’ parents in France to let them know he was deceased. Melissa had to deliver the horrifying news to François and Mireille de la Plaza that their only son had died. His mother could not stop screaming.

Melissa has interviewed every acquaintance, colleague, girlfriend, hookup, family member, boss, landlord, roommate, etc that she can think of, and she has turned up absolutely no evidence that he had been contemplating killing himself. In fact, Ms. Nix said, he had been saving money for a trip (potentially to Argentina), and had been celebrating the job promotion with Leap Frog the night of his death.

The two things she thinks could’ve led to his untimely demise are this:

  1. De la Plaza loved women and dating. He wasn’t cautious about who he hooked up with; in the process, he may have drawn the ire of a jealous partner.
  2. He was also an occasional cocaine user, and Nix wonders if he might have gotten on a dealer’s bad side.

While the neighbor’s security camera captured a figure believed to be Hugues returning home, it does not capture anyone leaving his residence that night. However, this camera was motion-activated and blurry, and the year was 2007 (not exactly known as the year of high definition cameras). This camera, the neighbor said, did not always capture people coming and leaving.

France’s Involvement

French authorities got involved at the urging of Hugues’ family and friends, and they were extremely disturbed by the San Fransisco investigation (or lack thereof). It was obvious to them that Mr. De La Plaza got home from his night out, opened his door to his attacker, got stabbed 3 times (neck, chest, chest) in quick succession, and managed to lock his door to try and get to safety as his last action on this earth.Within the 2,000 page report released by officials on Hugues’ death, officially ruled Hugues’ death as a Homicide based on a second set of DNA markers on Hugues’ wrist watch which had been broken and left on the floor at the time of his murder. This fact also lent credence to the possibility of a struggle in Hugues’ apartment – which, if you take a look at the crime scene photos that can be spotted in my sources section, there certainly appears to be some signs of a struggle. Melissa Nix, Hugues’ family, AND the French authorities strongly feel that the efficiency of the attack — three quick, deadly stabs to the upper body — all suggests a perpetrator with a criminal history.

Lately

The San Francisco Police Department is *allegedly* still investigating the case and will not comment on the cause of death, while his parents have repeatedly asserted that he was murdered. The “who” and the “why” are the big questions here: who could’ve done this to a man who was so well-loved in his community? Why would they do it? It could be a case of mistaken identity, or (as Melissa stated) a drug issue or a scorned lover (or lover’s husband etc).

If there are any leads in this nearly 20 year old case, SFPD hasn’t made them known.

In 2009, Mr. De La Plaza’s parents had a press conference on the steps of City Hall to announce a $100,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the killer.“I do find it regrettable that in order to see justice done, we have to offer money,” said Hugues’ father, Francois de la Plaza, a retired nuclear technician from the coastal Brittany region of France.

“I wouldn’t still be so upset about it if he hadn’t made such a difference in people’s lives and made life more fun and kooky. I’ve never met anybody like him,” Melissa explained emotionally.

In 2021, Melissa Nix flew to France to spend some quality time with Hugues’ parents – they are a family now, united in their grief and determination.

“It doesn’t ever go away. I think all we’re asking for is for it to be reopened as murder,” Nix says. “Just give us the dignity, stop gaslighting and call a spade a spade. It was a murder. Fifteen years have passed and it may never be solved. Can you at least give us that?”

The San Francisco Police Department has yet to comment.

Find a Grave (even says he was murdered)

Young parents disappear from the scene after a car accident in mid-December – they’re not found until March… they are found deceased in a ditch/water-runoff next to the original scene. The ditch has been scoured by LE & searchers for weeks. Where were Arnold and Ruby December through March?

About Arnold and Ruby

Arnold Archambeau, AKA Arnold Picotte, (20) and Ruby Bruguier (18) were a young Native American couple (of the Yankton Sioux tribe) living in South Dakota, and they had a child together in 1991 (a child they adored, and Ruby was still breastfeeding this child at the time of disappearance which just adds a layer of sadness to it). Arnold was really good at basketball, which impressed Ruby, and they became highschool sweethearts. Arnold was described as incredibly kind, polite, and thoughtful. He was very athletic and popular – he was actually crowned prom king in his senior year. Ruby was gentle but had a roaring sense of humor.

Ruby and Arnold were staying with Arnold’s aunt Karen when they disappeared. Karen had raised Arnold since his mother had died when he was 13. She was more than happy to have them and the baby living there. Ruby and Arnold’s lives revolved around schoolwork and taking care of a newborn, so on December 12, they decided to take their family’s advice and go have some fun.

Timeline

December 12, 1992 – The couple went out drinking with Ruby’s cousin Tracy Dion (17), leaving their baby with Ruby’s uncle for the night so they could go have some fun with friends. Arnold shouldn’t have been driving (period) but wasn’t reported as being drunk, per se.
They got in a car accident in their Chevrolet Monte Carlo (while Arnold was driving) after hitting some black ice. The car flipped onto its hood, and strangely, Arnold and Ruby abandoned their vehicle together with Tracy still inside. Tracy later told Unsolved Mysteries that while she did not see Arnold leave the car after the accident, he was not in it when it came to rest upside down. She says Bruguier was just shouting, “Oh my god!” while hitting the car; she managed to push one of the doors open and slide out. When Tracy went to do the same, the door was shut and she couldn’t get out. She was trapped inside the car until rescuers arrived some time later. Arnold and Ruby strangely did not attempt to get her out.

Deputy Sheriff Bill Youngstrom figured it’s a young couple who got a little too tipsy and drove under the influence, they’re scared of consequences, so they took off and will be back in a few days. He shrugged his shoulders about the whole ordeal, as did many of the deputies. Arnold and Ruby’s family knew something wasn’t right.

The sheriff was wrong. They didn’t come back.

January 1, 1993 – A witness claimed to have seen Arnold in a car accompanied by three other people on New Year’s Eve, almost three weeks after he was reported missing. Deputy Youngstrom believes that the sighting is credible. The witness talked to Arnold and knows him personally. There was no doubt in her mind that the man in the car was Arnold. Authorities brought the witness in for a polygraph exam. She passed. Later, the couple she identified as being in the backseat of the car also underwent a polygraph. They denied being in the car. However, they both failed their polygraph exams. They were questioned extensively, but maintained that they were not with Arnold that night. They claimed that they were at home.

Side note: Five other witnesses also came forward, claiming to have seen Arnold and Ruby after they disappeared. One witness reported seeing the couple get into a car after the accident; the car was then seen heading east. Another witness reported seeing Ruby on January 20, over a month after the accident, in nearby Wagner, South Dakota.

March 1993 – the bodies of Arnold & Ruby were found in a water-filled depression between the accident site and a disused railroad right-of-way a short distance from the road. The water was only 4ft deep. Along the roadside was a tuft of Ruby’s hair – it was in far better condition than it should have been if it had been there the entire time since the accident.

March 19, 1993 – a press conference takes place, led by state’s attorney Tim Whalen

Asked if he had taken pictures of the scene on the morning of the accident, Youngstrom said that he had but through a processing error the negatives were rendered useless. “It sounds like you’re trying to cover your butt,” Mike Archambeau (Arnold’s dad) said. “It sounds like you didn’t investigate in the first place.”

It was announced at the news conference that police had talked to a witness who had seen Archambeau and Bruguier get into a vehicle headed east on Route 281 shortly after the accident. It was not the only sighting of the two after their apparent disappearance; Ruby had reportedly been seen January 20 in Wagner“We’ve not ruled out foul play, but we haven’t ruled out other theories”, Whalen said.

The police made at least one big mistake: the two had not been placed on a national database of missing persons because authorities believed neither would have left the area. That sort of closed-mindedness is what leads to cases becoming cold in my opinion.

Cause of Death

The cause of death was determined to be exposure, but investigators found the deaths suspicious, believing that the two had not died right after the accident.

Deputies and the sheriff visited the scene in the intervening months, when the weather was warm and there was minimal snow; neither had seen the bodies at those times, and others who had been in the area made similar statements. A horseback rider who had gone through the area in late January 1993 was in search of his missing hubcap. With warmer weather, the depression was bare and dry. He didn’t find his hubcap, nor did he find the bodies of the couple that would be discovered just over a month later. The confusion surrounding this case is palpable.

“I believe they were placed in the ditch after they passed away someplace else,” Westendorf maintained. “I do know that they weren’t there in January. It’s pretty hard to prove somebody was murdered when you don’t have any evidence to prove it.”

Other aspects of the bodies suggested that the two might have died elsewhere, and perhaps at different times. Ruby’s body had to be identified by a tattoo as it was in an advanced state of decomposition; it was dressed in the clothes she was wearing the night of the accident, but without the shoes and glasses. Arnold’s body, found underwater in the depression, showed far less decomposition. A set of keys found in his pocket was never found to match any house or car in the area.

Law Enforcement’s Frustration

Local law enforcement who were involved in the investigation have stuck to the belief that at the very least the couple’s bodies were placed there after they died somewhere else, but other than that, they are bamboozled.

“There isn’t any indication of anything else,” said Special Agent Matt Miller of the bureau’s Sioux Falls field office. “All we know is that they appeared in the ditch and that was it.”

Deputy Youngstrom was further baffled by the discovery of two items that seemed to support the theory that Arnold and Ruby had not died in the ditch:

“We found a tuft of hair alongside the road. This hair was later determined by the forensic laboratory to belong to Ruby Bruguier. That hair couldn’t have stayed there for three months. In my opinion, it was when whoever brought the bodies back to the ditch, that’s when that piece of hair fell off of Ruby. At the time we pulled Arnold’s body from the ditch, I found a set of keys in his pocket, the keys were a car or vehicle key. And what appeared to be two house keys. I still have these keys in my possession. And to this day I have not found the vehicle nor that house that these keys fit.”

The New Mexico lab the police sent clothing to had “found some additional evidence”, but they could not elaborate on it. Several people had come to the sheriff’s office saying that they had seen Arnold and/or Ruby after the accident, and some of those people had taken polygraph tests. The sheriff had also gone down to Nebraska to speak with some former Lake Andes residents (I wish we knew more about this). The families had increased the reward money offered to $5,000 within a few months of finding the remains.

A cousin of Ruby’s submitted her case to Unsolved Mysteries, and their segment was taped as a re-enactment where Sheriff Youngstrom played himself. He said he badly wants the following 3 questions answered:

  1. How did they die, because they didn’t die at the scene?
  2. Where were they at?
  3. How did they get back [to the scene]

Where does that leave us?

Confused, ladies and gentlemen. It leaves us confused.

None of the leads generated by Unsolved Mysteries panned out. The FBI therefore took over the investigation of the deaths, but they closed the case 4 years later when they were unable to find any evidence that a crime occurred.

Something sketchy I cannot find much info on is that reportedly authorities have been unable to locate two men who were seen near the ditch just a few hours before the bodies were discovered. They were driving a dark, Blazer-style vehicle. Rumors also circulated that their deaths were the result of clan disputes, but I can’t find much on this either. I’ll update if I can find more. I could see that theory making sense – perhaps they got rammed off the road hence the accident, then abducted, and ransom perhaps didn’t work out bc criminals aren’t geniuses, so the plan went off-kilter maybe? I’m totally unsure. Would like to hear your thoughts.

Arnold and Ruby and their baby Erika didn’t deserve this. I hope Erika is living her best life (she got adopted by Ruby’s mom).

The Bizarre Disappearance of Kadin Black

Here is a complex case out of Pennsylvania that involves a hardworking young man labeled as “troubled”, a “helpful” family that gives many (except the local police department, of course!) the feeling that things aren’t quite right, and a heartbroken yet determined mother who tried to do what’s best for her son. The family and community are praying the truth comes out as soon as possible.

Kadin Black was living in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania when he vanished in December 2022. He had just turned 19. He deposited his work check (he worked for a moving company) into his bank account a few days before, and it remained untouched; unused. Kadin called and talked to his mom to confirm their Christmas plans that day – he truly loved Christmas. His family describes him as hilarious, athletic, and a guy who loved taking care of himself and his well-being with healthy eating and working out – he encouraged his family always to do the same. Kadin was so athletic that he captain of the football team in highschool. He was training to become a lightweight boxer, going to the gym each and every day despite working a lot. Kadin once biked 50 miles in a day just to prove to himself that he could.

Consequentially, Kadin would often get in trouble for fighting at school because he stood up to bullies. He had no patience for those who lacked kindness. He hated seeing anyone else be talked down to. An important thing to mention is that there are hardly any mixed or black people in this community, apparently, and he definitely faced some racism and discrimination. It was later discovered he had bipolar disorder and was on the spectrum, which explained some of his difficulties with schoolwork and “fitting in”, and he switched to Paradise School in Adams County. This school was known for supporting teens with these sorts of disorders.

THE FOUST FAMILY

At the time of Kadin’s disappearance, he was staying with his friend Ethan Foust and the Foust family: Chris and Amy Foust, and their children, Ethan as I mentioned, and Josie (who was only a little younger than Ethan and Kadin).

Kadin and Ethan had been friends at school for years and years. Kadin’s mom got a promotion and had to move to Maryland while Kadin was enjoying his highschool life, so Kadin ended up asking his parents if he could stay with the Fousts. His mom, Kara, didn’t want him to – since she had already seen some of the racism he faced, she was scared of what could happen in his future in that town – and she didn’t know the Fousts personally. Kadin eventually convinced Kara to let him go, and as he was legally 18 and an adult, she gave him her blessing.

Chris Foust stated he was very happy to have Kadin around to take bike rides with and fun things of a physical nature since his own son mostly enjoyed indoor hobbies. I don’t know much about Amy or Josie, but I know Chris is a former air traffic controller who previously studied theology – a current job isn’t mentioned.

Kadin Black, Josie Foust, and Chris Foust

Forebodingly, Kara is quoted as saying,

I wish he never moved back there. I just knew something would happen.”

THINGS DO NOT ADD UP

The police chief stated back in April of this year at a news conference: “He left unexpectedly without any notice, and at this time, there was no indications of foul play. We are now considering him missing, and we are doing this as an inquiry for his well-being.”

The chief also said that at the time of disappearance, the only things Black took with him were his cellphone and wallet and that he also deleted several social media platforms at that time. It seems to be unknown if Kadin himself deleted those, or if somebody else did so.

Nobody saw Kadin leave the house, apparently. They allegedly just “woke up and he was gone”. He went missing Saturday, and yet his parents didn’t receive word until Tuesday. His dad tried to get ahold of him on Saturday night checking if Kadin was coming in the morning to take a run with his dad’s dogs as he often did, and the messages were left unread. Kadin never showed up.

His dad called and texted Chris all weekend – no response. Tuesday morning, his dad finally gets a call back from Chris: “We haven’t seen Kadin since Saturday, is he at your house?”

His dad saw him earlier on Saturday; Kadin said he was going home (the Foust’s house). The last place Kadin’s phone pinged was also at that home. Strangely, everything in this case, no matter which route you take – seems to lead back to the house and the family that “took him in”. The phrasing of this is bothersome as Kadin had a perfectly good relationship with his mom and his brothers, he wasn’t just lost on the streets or in the system. He simply wanted to stay in town because that’s where his friends were as well as his favorite gym, and his mom had moved hours away. Kadin did not get along with his dad’s fiancee and often butted heads with his dad also, so living with the Fousts seemed like a rational choice.

For a long time, Kadin’s mom was told his phone pinged “within 2 miles” of the Foust home. Later on, Chris calls and says, “They’re searching my house and they have dogs and I don’t know what they’re looking for. They’re saying Kadin may have a second cellphone,” which made no sense to Kara, because Kadin couldn’t even afford his original phone let alone a second one. The police told her they were just doing a “more thorough search”.

A month after this search, she finds out from someone at the DA’s office the search was because they were looking for Kadin’s phone with dogs who detect electronics – there is no second phone involved. Kadin’s phone last pinged AT the Foust home on SUNDAY at 9:28AM before it died/was turned off. Chris had said he got up at 6am that Sunday and Kadin wasn’t there. The phone was never retrieved. Kara says Chris’ house is small & well-kept with “nothing out of place”.

So where is this phone?

Kadin’s car was having some problems, it still ran but needed some work, so supposedly Chris was letting him use his car to take to work. Kadin had to work on Monday, and Chris’ car and Kadin’s car was still there all day long… why didn’t Chris call his parents on Monday then?

Kadin’s ID was found in Chris’ vehicle, as well as a bank slip from the bank for December 16 that shows him depositing his paycheck. His phone records show he called the gym he goes to on Saturday around 6:30PM, the gym owner confirmed it was him who called. Kadin wanted to come work out, but the owner informed him they were about to close for the night. Kadin sounded normal in this phone call, and appeared to be looking forward to coming back to the gym as soon as possible.

So, something occurred between 6:30PM on Saturday and 9:28AM on Sunday.

His mom states the cops they waited too long to search the Foust house – the cops said they couldn’t search because it was too cold outside, then they said they couldn’t search once the weather warmed up because it was too wet and muddy (excuses) – they waited at least a month after Kadin went missing. They did a search on the banks of the river, and a drone search. It’s a very rural area with lots of land and trees.

So allegedly he left the house without being seen or heard without taking his phone or car or money or ID. His wallet and debit card have not been found, and the debit card has never been used.

Now, this town is incredibly, overwhelmingly white, and this news article… well, please read it yourself especially the “Conspiracy theories on social media” section. It is awful and understandably sent Kadin’s family into an uproar. This article seems to want to spread a message of: The Fousts are a WONDERFUL All-American family who would never harm a fly let alone a teen that lived with them. This kid was black and troubled! Obviously that’s what made him disappear.

The article is so off-putting. The Fousts put so much info out there that his family didn’t, a lot of it isn’t entirely accurate, and 99% of the additional info appears to be put out there to make the Fousts look better and Kadin and his family look not-so-great. I am left wondering if the Fousts have community connections to help with this situation at hand.

“He felt he didn’t deserve what we were doing for him,” Amy said. “He couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that two people who barely knew him cared about him.” She said, “He looked at us and our family and wondered why he couldn’t have that. He just wanted to start over and have a better life.”

This is offensive to his family. What a self-congratulatory statement.

Kadin had a perfectly good home with his mother and his brother – he loved them and spoke to his mom and his little brother every single day. He couldn’t wait for Christmas. He wanted to be in PA because he missed his friends there – multiple people have stated this, inside and out of his family. Also – they “barely knew him” but he was over to their house all the time with their son, for a long time, since they were little kids? Sharing dinners and the like? There is some cognitive dissonance taking place.

Kadin with his wonderful family Christmas 2022

This past winter, when the temperatures dipped into the single digits, the epoxy finish on the Fousts’ garage floor cracked. Chris posted a photo of the cracks on Facebook and that led to speculation among commenters that the Fousts had killed Kadin, cut up his body and buried the parts under the concrete garage floor. “We stay off (social media) now,” Chris said. “That makes us never want to help anybody out again. We didn’t expect this to happen.”

Chris, actually, has not stayed off social media whatsoever.

Chris had said Kadin went missing between Saturday and Tuesday, but his phone died on Sunday morning connected to the Foust wifi. Chris saw Kadin every day – it has been said Kadin always came home for dinner – he wasn’t worried at all not seeing Kadin for 3 or 4 days? They worked on Kadin’s vehicle together ALL the time – Chris posted pics on FB constantly – so I really wonder about this timeline.

Speaking of the vehicle – why did Chris Foust quickly list Kadin’s Toyota 4Runner – that his mother gifted him, that Kadin worked on relentlessly with dogged determination – FOR SALE just a few months after he went missing? It’s almost like he knew Kadin wasn’t coming back. He listed Kadin’s vehicle for sale on FB Marketplace very quickly.

He sold the Toyota for $8500 after reducing the price, apparently to get it sold quicker. While I hope an undercover detective bought it for evidentiary purposes, it seems unlikely.

Chris did not offer to sell Kadin’s mom or dad the vehicle. nor did he donate any of the money from the sale towards the reward in this case. Chris had multiple vehicles he could’ve sold, but only sold this one. The cops never searched this vehicle, and Chris sold it for way less than he allegedly put into it (way over $10,000, he said)

As I referred to earlier, Chris did not stop making social media posts. Some of these posts include him posting that he would black out on his sleeping pills or epilepsy medication (of course, the post appears to be deleted now). Another post includes photos of the cracks in the epoxy in his garage… his formerly carpeted garage.

Maybe Chris wrongfully thinks people aren’t paying attention.

He didn’t worry about searching for Kadin, either. He did not participate in a single search, according to the family. He hasn’t reached out and asked how he could go about supporting Kadin’s family emotionally through this horrific, endless tragedy. He clearly just wants to move on with life like nothing happened despite a missing teenager’s phone being connected to his WiFi after he went missing – a teenager he supposedly loved so much… spent thousands on fixing his car, spent many hours fixing said car with him, and taught the word of the Lord to! But he didn’t care about him once he disappeared. Seems totally normal to me! Definitely checks out!

ADDITIONAL INFO

As stated previously, Kadin was facing charges in an assault case.

The Fousts say they bailed him out while he awaited trial. Regarding this case, according to his family, he had a high chance of getting the charges dropped and dismissed as a camera from the bus taped the incident which shows Kadin simply defending himself. His family reviewed it themselves (with an open mind Kadin could be in the wrong – they knew he wasn’t an angel), and they said 100% Kadin was attacked by this driver after a verbal argument. Kadin’s anger is understandable in this scenario. A white driver assigning the only black kid on the bus to the very back seats… are we in the 1950s?

However, being a 19 year old kid, he was pretty scared of this court date. But if he left due to that, I’d assume he’d take wallet, phone, etc, and just drive or take a bus or train or plane down to Mexico or wherever else. His bank account, as I said, was and is untouched.

A “psychic” told his parents that Kadin was killed, dismembered, and put in the river. Most people are rightfully cautious about quote unquote psychics, and I hope that this proposed scenario is false. However, his family definitely do not think he is living anymore. The police did do a diving search in this area based on the tip from the alleged psychic – I do commend them for exploring a tip regardless of its potential value. Sadly, they didn’t find anything.

The police state they’re not getting any tips on this case and it’s surprising to them. They get tips on basically every case they put out… not a singular tip on Kadin.

Naturally, there is a small chance Kadin just left without any belongings for some reason (completely unlike any previous behavior) and perhaps got hit by a drunk/distracted driver who moved him out of panic. Perhaps he committed suicide – he was quite anxious about his upcoming court date for the bus driver incident.

With all the circumstantial stuff that has happened in the past year, my thoughts go to where Kadin was last seen and where his phone last pinged. If I forgot anything or if any additional events occur, I will make a follow up post.

A sweet text exchange between Kadin and his mama, Kara. They said I love you to eachother all the time.

All she wants is to tell him she loves him again. Please share Kadin’s story and let’s get him home where he belongs.

REWARD

TENNESSEE: Justice is Desperately Needed for Innocent Siblings Grant and Gracie Solomon, Subjected to Horrible Tragedy Without Help From Their Community. Story Needs More Coverage and More Support ASAP.

!!! IMPORTANT !!! – This is probably the most important thing I’ve spoken on in years. Please, please consider spending a couple minutes of your time reading this.

TW: Graphic and adult themes.
Don’t read this if you’re not in a good place to.

I tried to sum up these events just so you don’t have to pour over every document and video for weeks like I have, and you’ll still get the gist of it. That is my hope. This family needs your help. Today. And YOU can make a difference. They need people simply to care, share, and spread the word.

Will be blocking out certain words so FB doesn’t put me in FB jail.

This is regarding Grant and Gracie Solomon.

All they ever wanted was to live with their mother, Angie, a pharmacist, and a loving, protective mother. Grant loved to hang out with his girlfriend, play baseball, learn about Jesus and emulate him as much as he could, drink milkshakes with his best friend… a great teenager. Gracie is also religious. She loved to run track, laugh with her mom, and be with her big brother as much as she could.

Tragically, I must introduce you to Aaron Solomon…

a notoriously horrible father & husband, lover of insurance fraud, privileged and rich beyond reason, former sports reporter, cultist, violently Republican, Tennesseean news anchor, well-connected socialite, has a famous dad in TN, best friends with the governor of TN Gov. Bill LeeBill Lee, child molester & r*pist, controlling malignant narcissist, pathological liar, murderer, abuser, overly-excited litigant (took his ex to court HUNDREDS! of times because he needed to be in control), fake “Christian” SOB, ethically and morally bankrupt cretin who works at his cult’s “school” for children.

I put “school” in quotes because, not only is it a school connected to an extremist sect, the staff there are mandated reporters… yet they refused to help Grant or Gracie when they screamed, cried, begged for help. They even shoved Gracie in Aaron’s car after she was found shaking, crying, hiding from him in the principal’s office, begging staff not to let her dad take her home to m*lest her. They ignored Grant telling a staff member that’s friends with his dad, too, of course, that he was afraid for his life. Grace Christian Academy, Grace Christian Academy: You have blood on your hands.

Aaron did not stop at violating and terrifying his daughter her entire life.

He killed her protector, her best friend, her favorite person in the world: her big brother Grant.

Aaron killed his own son 2 weeks after Grant had turned 18. His dad knew he couldn’t control him much longer. Grant was considering filing for custody of Gracie to keep her away from their father, since Grant’s mom had tried and failed in the courts due to Aaron’s friendships, influence, and connections. Aaron Solomon murdered his firstborn child in broad daylight in Gallatin, Tennessee in July of 2020, after luring his son there under the pretense of an appointment to practice baseball at a place to do just that. Strangely, no appointment was made for Grant that day.

Huh.

How about that.

Gallatin Police Department are too busy blocking anyone who brings Grant up, and refuse to investigate EXTREMELY suspicious circumstances (like, a monkey could’ve gazed at this crime scene and have known it was suspicious).

Nobody is going to stop bothering any of those who have been tagged about #justiceforgrant and #JusticeForGracie. You’d think it would be best to get on the right side of history ASAP before they get fired and/or imprisoned by the feds, but they seem not to care about anyone but themselves.

This case is a travesty of the highest level.
I am appalled. I am disgusted. And you should be, too.

Please care. Please share.
If you are able, it would be great if you would consider donating to help Angie & Gracie hire the best lawyers to get Grant’s case taken seriously as well as experts to exhume and autopsy his body (Aaron, of course, disallowed an autopsy). Donating also will help Gracie (who is only 16 years old) take her own dad to court for sexual abuse. She is just 16 years old.

Imagine how truly terrifying that must be, especially knowing what he is capable of.

These 2 wonderful and strong ladies deserve all of the support imaginable. It will take those of us with hearts and brains to help give them what is needed.

Humbly, I ask you to join in their fight.
Thank you for reading.

“I won’t know peace unless my dad is gone, and I know that. But I want justice for Grant, for my mom, for me.” – Gracie Solomon

NOTE:
I am an American citizen and this blog post is protected by the First Amendment. This is my opinion as a person who has been a missing persons advocate, truth seeker, and citizen who’s tired of seeing bad people make a mockery of justice in the United States.

I do not know any of these people in person. I have read Grant Solomon’s medical examination report, the incident report, viewed many videos, and read many articles on this case. I am not a therapist, a lawyer, a prosecutor, or anything of the type. If you want a definitive answer for yourself, I welcome you to study this case, but I warn you it is brutal and unforgiving to any good natured human being’s senses to witness an entire community of people, many who view themselves as “good Christians”, ignore 2 abused children and 1 traumatized mother as they beg everyone and their brother for help, and being dismissed, ignored, and mocked… for years… despite having substantial proof and evidence of their claims.

This article is an attempt to sum up the scenario for unknowing people who care about things such as this, while giving the reader a taste of the rage and devastation I felt doing an online investigation of these events.

Update: Kara Nichols was found deceased.

[I’m behind the times a bit due to personal matters and I apologize. This update occurred in February 2022.]

During a review of Kara’s case, a witness was contacted and produced a new lead. The statements of this witness led investigators to search an area in Black Forest, Colorado.

Remains were then found in the 9600 block of Burgess Road.

Positive identification was made by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office – the body belonged to Kara.

Her parents’ decade long search for her whereabouts is finally over.

Kara was placed four feet underground, wrapped in three layers of sealed duct tape and black plastic bags. Her body was found in the exact manner as the witness had said it would be.

Quickly after the tragic discovery of her body, a 46 year old man named Joel Hollendorfer was charged with second degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. His bond was set at $1 million. The District Attorney’s Office then decided to upgrade the murder charge to first-degree, and the judge revoked Mr. Hollendorfer’s bail.

Joel Hollendorfer had confided in the witness that he “accidentally killed an escort”, and that he buried this woman on his mother’s farm. His story was that he accidentally strangled her while they were having sex.

The coroner’s report detailed probable heroin intoxication, a substance Kara was known to struggle with.

May her soul be at peace.

A statement from her parents:

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart, that we share that we were informed yesterday by authorities, that our beautiful daughter’s remains were found and a suspect has been arrested in the case.

We are writing to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all of those who tirelessly gave time, money, attention and assistance to finding Kara over the past ten years.

Due to the unremitting support and help from National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE) the past decade they will continue to be by our family’s side, manage this page and be a voice for Kara as we seek justice in this case.

Kara Nichols’ family makes statement after woman’s remains were discovered in Black Forest | FOX21 News Colorado

Kara Nancy Nichols, age 19, a daughter, sister, animal lover, and model went missing from Colorado in October 2012.

Supposedly told her 3 male roommates that she was on her way to a photoshoot in Denver; she was never seen again.

By Kelsie Finnigan

Kara Nichols was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 20th, 1993, the daughter of Julia and Paul Nichols. They were proud to have a beautiful baby like Kara. Her parents adored her. She had an older brother, and a baby sister came along soon after she was born. The family was close and spent a lot of time together. Things appeared picture perfect, and they were, for quite some time.

All of this changed around the time Kara was 15. She loved the family’s pet dog more than anyone or anything in this world and they were best friends. Her dog passed away. This changed her life considerably. The grief seemed overwhelming for Kara, she could not believe how much it hurt to lose her best animal friend. She fell into a deep depression, and her parents could not pull their teenage daughter out of her misery. Kara had a hard time regulating her emotions and her parents feared something was wrong, more so than her dog passing away.

Julia and Paul made appointments for her with a therapist and a psychiatrist, but Kara resisted the diagnoses she received and didn’t take the prescribed medication. It is said her diagnoses included bipolar disorder and/or borderline personality disorder. She fell in with some new friends at school who impressed her by doing ‘dangerous’ things she hadn’t tried yet as a kid since she was usually focused on doing well in school and enjoying being at home. She looked up to the new friends.

Kara did not want to take the prescribed medications because they made her feel weird, but her new friends offered her drugs that they seemed to enjoy, so Kara decided to give these drugs a chance. For a short time after taking them, she would feel alive and as if the sadness had been lifted. She knew drugs were bad, but this was the first time she had felt happiness in a long time… why would she want to stop? She worked on keeping her secret from her parents but they realized quickly what was going on.

When Kara began using, it amplified her rebellious urges and tendencies toward mania. She immediately began cycling between mania and depression, and this gave her anxiety. She tried to numb herself. This fast rollercoaster of emotions can be very dangerous for an unmedicated bipolar individual, and they may not be able to stop themselves from making impulsive or irrational decisions. Kara’s cycling between mania and depressive episodes could potentially have been an aspect of her disappearance.

Kara decided to attend high school that allowed her to work at her own pace, so she decided to attend a local alternative high school, Life Skills of Colorado Springs. She was super smart and adaptable so she had no time cruising through schoolwork. She graduated, and her support system was very proud of her as she had hopes, dreams, and goals for the future once again. Her family could breathe for the first time in a few years.

After graduation, Kara had 2 jobs: modeling part time and waitressing at a local restaurant. Her modeling portfolio consisted mostly of lingerie shoots, partially because they paid more than clothed shoots. She also created a profile on Model Mayhem, an online modeling site that links models and photographers judging by distance, style wanted, and experience wanted.

In the summer of 2012, Kara quit her jobs and moved with her family to Chicago, Illinois. When Kara fell even deeper into the rabbit hole of addiction, Julia and Paul tried to help her out by enrolling her in a drug treatment program. Unfortunately, she was discharged early on for not following the rules of the program.

That August, after being kicked out of this program, Kara moved back to Colorado Springs on her own. She was very independent and liked her business to be her business. She was sick of being worried about, and she had also missed her friends there and the atmosphere of CS in general. She lived in a home with three male roommates somewhere along Mission Road in the Cimarron Hills area of Colorado Springs. Her big brother lived nearby which was a relief for her loved ones.

On the evening of October 9, 2012, Kara left her home after informing her roommates that she was heading out to Denver for a modeling shoot. Shortly after Kara walked out the door, a dark sedan was seen pulling away from the curb, and the roommate assumed it was her ride.

I have no idea if the roommates were thoroughly investigated. I’d normally assume they did, but this PD didn’t seem to do much right in the beginning of this investigation.

Over the next two days, Kara’s brother, who lived nearby, attempted to call and send text messages to her, but she never picked up her phone. Kara Nancy Nichols never returned home and has not been heard from since. He reported her missing to the El Paso County Sheriff’s office three days later on October 12, after a search by family and friends led nowhere.

When authorities searched the room, they discovered Kara left behind items she would need if she planned to be away for long: her purse, identification, clothes, makeup, laptop, and $300.

Her phone records, bank account, and social media have shown no activity since she vanished. The last activity on her phone were texts sent on the night of her disappearance, around 11:45 pm. Her cell phone, which has not been found, last pinged to cellular towers north of her home in the direction of Denver.

The investigation into Kara having disappeared floundered initially due to the harsh criticisms of deputies and detectives on the team. As is so often the case regarding those with substance use issues, Kara was being looked at and treated as if she was sub-human for having the problems she did. I think that is despicable, and all missing people deserve to be cared for and found.

A recording capturing the view of one police officer on the case was leaked in May of 2014 by EPCSD, and it shocked Kara’s family and the community. *Here is part of an article from Gazette dot com about what happened when Deputy Porter was confronted by Undersheriff Presley and Sheriff Maketa:*

>In the 50-minute recording, a man identified as patrol deputy Cliff Porter is confronted in by Undersheriff Paula Presley, Law Enforcement Bureau Chief Al Harmon and Sheriff Terry Maketa about statements he made in the Nichols case.

>

>Porter was taken off the case after a couple of months, but he came under fire after statements he made to his replacement were reported to his superiors. He repeated those statements in meeting apparently recorded in March.

>

>”I said you know … maybe somebody would finally just say, look, this is a cold case, this girl is probably dead, we’re going to work the leads but we’re going to shelve this thing, and we won’t overreact every time Mr. Nichols comes in,” the man says in the recording.

>

>The recording was released in a response to a complaint Porter filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Tuesday, alleging that Maketa tried to bully him into supporting John Anderson in a bid for sheriff.

>

>On Thursday, Julia and Paul Nichols released a statement in response to the recording and Porter’s lawsuit.

>

>**”The fact that Deputy Porter has the gall to use our daughter’s case as a way to cover his own ineptitude is infuriating,” their statement read.**

>

>**Julia Nichols said the recording indicates that Porter mishandled the case – something they believed all along.**

>

>In the first few weeks, we were wondering why he wouldn’t respond to our calls, and when he did, he seemed very cynical, very negative about the possibility of finding our daughter alive,” Julia Nichols said Thursday. She said the family’s requests to meet Porter were dealt with reluctantly.**

>

>A new detective was assigned to the case in February 2013, she said. **But she believes the case has gone cold, and criticizes the Sheriff’s Office for being ineffective.”You just wonder what else has gone on. You wonder how many other victims have been treated like this,” Nichols said. “It just re-victimized a family who’s already suffering.”**

Another alarming event occurred when the sheriff at the time of Kara’s disappearance, Terry Maketa, got indicted on multi-count felony and misdemeanor charges relating to his affair with Undersheriff Paula Presley as well as an ex-commander named Juan San Agustin on charges that include conspiracy to commit extortion, witness tampering and even second-degree kidnapping (indictment linked in ‘Sources’ section). Julia Nichols has been, understandably, asking that her daughter’s case be reopened and ran through again with more attentive eyes, since she now knows the sheriff’s office was in turmoil when Kara vanished.

Terry Maketa

”When my daughter went missing, the department was in what appears to be complete disarray,” Julia Nichols said during an interview with a local news station. “It leads us to think very little was done in her case, even though they gave lip service to working hard to solve my daughter’s disappearance.”

She went on to say, “It’s hard to believe people who are elected to a trusted position in law enforcement who could have come so far in the public’s trust could behave that way.”

Once the investigators (the ones who actually did care about Kara and finding her) were made aware of the sort of lifestyle Kara lived, they were convinced foul play was involved.

Her parents tried everything to lead Kara to sobriety: tough love, not tough love, private mental health facilities, detoxes, rehabs. Kara’s parents would do anything to save their daughter. Unfortunately, drugs had such a massive hold on Kara that little progress was ever made toward recovery.

It was discovered Kara did work with a pimp, and knowing all of these details broke her loved one’s hearts. Shortly before her disappearance, she allegedly had a falling out with this guy (unnamed). Lots of people think this is the truth of what happened. Her family desperately wished they could save her but she fell in with the wrong people and her self-esteem seemed to depend on the predatory men she was surrounded by. They were also her ticket to ‘keeping well’.

It is heartbreaking that Kara’s parents struggle with a lot of guilt. Addiction does not discriminate and it is a family disease.

On November 20th, 2012, the police announced they were searching for two brunette women – one with a half-sleeve tat on her arm – who reportedly had spent much of the day with Kara before she went missing.

There are 2 photos of one of the women located on the CharleyProject page, but her name hasn’t been released. It is unknown as to whether the sheriff’s department knows her name or not.

On November 30, 2012, there was a potential break in the case. A profile featuring her photos popped up on MyRedBook, an online Las Vegas escort site. When police called the number on the ad, her family was devastated to report that the voice on the other end was *not* their daughter’s.

Authorities discovered that escort websites often use random pictures lifted from the Internet to advertise online. They dismissed the profile.

Foul play is strongly suspected in Kara Nancy Nichols’s disappearance. Authorities pointed to a strong possibility that she may have been targeted by a new sort of organized group that seemed to become a noticeable issue in America in the 2000s – groups specially created for the exploitation and basically, slavery of models. They would oftentimes harm models they promised a photoshoot as well as payment to. She was registered on a site called Model Mayhem which some people believe participates in these organized groups.

Kara’s bio on Model Mayhem read as follows:

My name is Kara and I’m 19 years old. I’ve been modeling since February 2012, and although I’m new to it modeling is something I am very passionate about and I take my work seriously. Currently I’m working on building my portfolio so I’m always looking for modeling opportunities in my area. I’ve done mostly lingerie shoots so far but I’m extremely open minded and I’m willing to work with you on ideas for shoots so contact me if you’re interested in working with me!

NOTE TO PHOTOGRAPHERS — due to my financial situation I am mainly focused on paid work. I am still open for TF shoots but paid work takes priority for now. Please contact me for serious requests only.

A case filed against Internet Brands, who operates Model Mayhem, was originally dismissed in 2014 but was later revitalized by the court. A woman, referred to in court documents as Jane Doe, was an aspiring model who had created a profile on Model Mayhem.

Jane Doe claims she was contacted and invited to a casting session in 2011, but it was a malicious sham. She was drugged and then raped on camera by two men.

There are many stories of these sort of men who would also do things like get young models hooked on drugs so they’re easier to control, pimp them out, sell them to other men or organized groups, and generally make their lives a living hell… and that’s just if someone survives the initial kidnapping. Where do the two women become involved? Many believe the two women were sent by one of these groups as a way to ease Kara into attending her ‘photo shoot’ in Denver.

Over the years, there have been numerous reported sightings of Kara. Some have reportedly seen her accompanied by a man in the area of Fillmore Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The witnesses stated that Kara appeared frightened of the man. These alleged sightings have never been confirmed and this man has never been identified.

If you know anything about the disappearance of 19 year old Kara Nancy Nichols, please call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department in Colorado Springs, Colorado at 719-520-7227 and reference case number 12-12983.

Where is Lauren Cho, the beautiful and talented 30 year old woman missing from the artist commune ‘The Whole’ in Yucca Valley, California?

A little after 5:30pm on Monday, June 28th, 2021, squad cars with loud, echoing sirens drove down a quiet road to arrive on a fittingly serene property in Yucca Valley, California. A man named Cody Orell had reported his former girlfriend and current travel partner missing – Lauren Cho. Lauren (referred to as El by her loved ones) had met Cody through mutual friends at a get-together on Memorial Day and became close right away.

Cody always dreamt of living out west, and Lauren, sick of her job as a highschool teacher, spontaneously decided to join him in his adventure. They joined a sort-of art commune named The Whole, and fit in immediately with the artists and musicians there. This decision somehow, unfortunately, led to her disappearance.

They had driven all the way from New Jersey to live in California in December of 2020, and the couple didn’t waste any time – they became fixtures in the small community they were a part of – Bombay Beach, population 415. Lauren was locally known for turning Cody’s tour bus into a food truck, and she invited people for dinner nearly constantly, winning new friends nightly with the creative recipes she had invented.

Having a food truck was her dream, and cooking was her passion. Cho was as good at making friends as she was at cooking, and a new friend, Tao Ruspoli, invited her to work as a chef in Yucca Valley for his collection of Airbnbs called ‘The Whole’. Yucca Valley was an hour and a half from Bombay Beach, and part of the deal was getting to live on the property, so Lauren gladly accepted the offer. Cody joined her in Yucca Valley.

Cody Orell claims he walked into the bus, witnessed an upset Lauren storm out. He decided not to follow her immediately. This was around 5pm. When Lauren hadn’t returned, Cody claims he searched for Lauren, calling out her name as he wandered the property. “There was a 10-minute window there and she evaporated,” Orell said in a phone interview with the Hi-Desert Star on Thursday, July 1.

Cody called 911 when there was no trace of Lauren anywhere around the property, inside or out. Lauren had been wearing Doc Martens at the time of her disappearance. Doc Martens are a brand of boots with a very distinctive pattern that would be easy to spot in the sand and dirt. When Cody granted an interview to the local paper (the Hi-Desert Star), he said of the incident, “I searched all the hills and no tracks, anywhere.”

Cody also mentioned that Lauren had said on Sunday, the day before she disappeared, that she was going out to meet someone and didn’t say who. Cody did not pry at the time, but says he regrets that now. He is convinced Lauren got into a vehicle with someone, as he believes she would have followed the trails if she did walk into the hills, and thus a sign of her would have been found by now. The police shared similar sentiments, as did the multiple search and rescue teams that combed through the surrounding desert for Lauren all through the month of July.

Multiple friends who called the sheriff’s station frantically said that Lauren had texted them expressing suicidal thoughts and talked about leaving everything behind. Within a couple of days, local residents called to say they saw her with a man at a restaurant in Yucca Valley, but nothing ever came of this lead.

According to the sheriff’s report of Orell’s call for help, placed at 5:13 p.m., Cho walked into the hills between Yucca Valley and Morongo Valley. Orell tried to find her and then called their circle of friends for help. He told the sheriff’s station she didn’t take her phone, water or food.

Lauren’s friend and fellow artist, Jeff Frost, who lived with Cho at The Whole, said that Lauren found value in everyone else except for herself. Despite Lauren’s many talents and achievements – being a Tae Kwan Do champion by the age of 12, and getting the chance to travel Europe as a talented soprano member of a choir as a teenager – she never gave herself value, which was devastating to everyone who knows and loves her. Her family and friends consistently tried to raise the 30 year old’s self esteem.

To another of Lauren’s friend, RJ Okay, Lauren Cho is a motivated dreamer who is excited about the future – definitely not someone who would willingly leave the life she was beginning to build in California. “We had dinner the night before,” he said. “I thought for sure she’d be back for dinner again that night.”

On July 2, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officially suspended its search and rescue operation, telling the Hi-Desert Star on July 6 that Cho’s case was classified as a missing person. “At this time, there is a current investigation, there is no particular person of interest, and all avenues of leads are being looked into,” Sgt. Stafford of the Morongo Basin Station told the newspaper, adding that they did not expect to resume a search effort unless new leads were developed.

But on July 24th, the search resumed when the department conducted aerial searches of the mountain terrain near where Lauren had been staying. Then on July 31st, officers served a search warrant at the AirBnb where Cho had been living, according to a press release issued by the department on Aug. 2. They used seven dogs to search the property as well as other nearby areas for evidence.

At the time, the department said in its release that more operations would be conducted as further leads were developed. It was more forthcoming about the reason for the search in a statement to the Hi-Desert Star.

“We sought a search warrant due to the property owner not being present and multiple people on site living at the location,” Sgt. Eric Smoot told the newspaper, noting that it was the second search warrant served on the property. He added that the weather in the area had been hampering search efforts for Lauren.

A very important development occurred on September 21, 2021. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a press release, “Investigators with San Bernardino County Sheriff’s, Specialized Investigations Division are assisting the Morongo Basin Station in the effort to locate Lauren Cho. Investigators are investigating all leads and working with family and friends of Ms. Cho. Future search operations will occur as further leads develop.”

The investigation had previously been led by detectives from the department’s Morongo Basin Station. The Specialized Investigations Division includes the Homicide Detail, Crimes Against Children Detail and the Polygraph Detail, which investigate major crimes including homicides and suspicious deaths.

“Investigators are investigating all leads and working with family and friends of Ms. Cho. Future search operations will occur as further leads develop,” according to the sheriff’s department.

Those with information about the search for Cho can contact Detective Edward Hernandez or Sergeant Justin Giles, Specialized Investigations Division, at (909) 387-3589.

***NOTE:***

Tao, a famous filmmaker, grew up on a commune in Rome, and was trying to replicate it in the California desert with The Whole. He was formerly married to actress Olivia Wilde. Tao made a documentary you may be familiar with, entitled Monogamish (2017), where he travels the US heartbroken after the divorce between he and Olivia. Mr. Ruspoli interviews people about sex, love, and marriage. One of the people he interviews just so happens to be Neil Strauss – also known as the most outspoken public advocate for the Elaine Park case, as he hosts a podcast about her called To Live and Die in LA which has sparked tons of energy and conversation regarding Elaine’s 2017 disappearance (she is still missing).

Either Neil doesn’t know about Lauren Cho so he has not helped, or he does know and isn’t helping for one reason or another. It just strikes one as odd.

It also appears from an outside perspective that Tao Ruspoli, despite being who invited Lauren to live at the commune he created, has not made any sort of effort to publicly share Lauren’s flyers, participate in S&R, or create/donate to a reward despite having plenty of money. Perhaps Tao is working behind the scenes, maybe along with Strauss. Maybe not.

All anyone seems to know is that Lauren has now been missing an entire summer, and they are scared for her safety and wellbeing.

Tommy had a thriving cacti business, was traveling the road to recovery, and was a sweet and talented person. His loved ones are desperate to find the truth.

Atascadero residents William and Mary Jane Jodry, the parents of 21-year-old Thomas Robert Jodry who fell to his death on the night of September 14, 2019, are offering a $10,000 reward for information to solving the case of their son’s death. The parents filed a civil complaint on May 14, against David Allen Knight, age 57, alleging that Knight “intentionally and proximately caused the death of Thomas Robert Jodry.” A civil complaint only represents one side of a lawsuit. In testimony for the case, Knight denied that he had any criminal convictions, but since-expunged court records obtained by The Tribune show that Knight had a felony court conviction in 2003 for molesting a child under 14. Of course, Tommy didn’t know that, and he tended to look young for being 21. He had a baby face. It’s unknown if that has anything to do with Knight’s fascination with him and possible involvement in his death – I am just speculating.

Thomas met Knight when Knight purchased a cactus from him. They had communicated for several weeks about their shared appreciation for art. They left Tommy’s parents’ house to view artwork at Cal Poly, but instead, Mr. Knight took him to the Frog & Peach Pub in San Luis Obispo that night. This is in spite of the fact that Tommy was set up to sign into an alcohol rehabilitation program. He was suffering from depression and anxiety and had a tendency to use alcohol as a means to cope with his demons.Tommy and David proceeded to drink heavily. Tommy’s blood alcohol content at the time of his death was approximately 0.38. Knight paid for all these drinks, and according to reports, Thomas Jodry consumed at least six shots of whiskey paid for by Knight.

Tommy ran outside in a panic (for reasons unknown). He tripped and hit his face – he was struggling to walk, and fell down multiple times. He dropped his phone, and David followed behind and picked up Tommy’s phone. Tommy was trying to run from Knight and yelled, “Help! Someone is after me!”According to his statement to the police, Knight did not see Tommy alive again. Tommy’s body was found on the sidewalk in front of the Marsh Street parking structure across from Eureka Burger SLO.At 9:18 pm, a 911 call for a “possible suicide attempt” was made to the San Luis Obispo Police Department. Within minutes, the officer responding to the call found Tommy on the sidewalk near the southeast corner of Chorro and Marsh. It appeared he had fallen, jumped, or had been pushed from the top of a parking garage. He was bleeding heavily from his ear and mouth and was barely breathing. Tommy was transported by ambulance to Sierra Vista Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:49 p.m.

William Jodry asked, “Why would a 50-ish-year-old guy buy six drinks for him in an hour? What was his motivation for not bringing him home and buying six rounds of drinks?” The Jodry’s say they want to learn “the other half of the story.”According to the Justice for Thomas site:At 8:05 pm*, Knight texted the words “Fuck you” to Thomas’s phone. Knight later explained that he sent the message to verify that Tommy was receiving his text messages. (Why Knight chose to say “Fuck you” in the text message instead of something like, “Testing…1, 2, 3,” was not explained.) According to Knight, Tommy didn’t look at his phone and did not otherwise acknowledge the text message.* It is worth noting that David Knight came out of the shadows to approach the police on scene, and said he knew Tommy but “didn’t want that to be noted in the report”. David then went to visit Tommy’s parents and tell them to call the hospital to check on their son. Tommy’s dad describes Knight’s visit:

At about 10:20 pm, there was a knock on our front door. It was Knight, and he immediately asked me if I remembered him. I said, “Yes, but where is Tommy? I’ve been trying to call him.” Knight said, “I have his cell phone,” and he handed it to me. I asked him why he had Tommy’s cell phone and Knight replied, “I found it on the ground. He must have dropped it.” I then invited him into the house. Knight told my wife and I a little of what happened that evening with Tommy. He told us he lost Tommy somewhere downtown and then he heard police sirens. Knight told us that he went over to the scene near the parking garage. He told us that he saw someone on the ground that looked like Thomas but the police refused to give him any information when he approached them. My wife and I were crying and screaming after we received the news.

While we were crying, we saw Knight rocking back and forth on the couch saying, “How could Thomas do this to me?” I told Knight that he should leave, and I suggested to Knight that he come back the next day and tell us more of what had happened to Tommy. (Knight did not return or even call us ever again.)My wife then called her brother to take us to the hospital. Her brother, who lives very close, arrived within three minutes. In the meantime, Knight was still in our living room. My brother-in-law said to Knight, “What’s going on here?” Knight responded coldly, “He’s dead.” When he repeated the question, Knight repeated, “He’s dead!” in an even sharper tone.I then told Knight to leave. My brother-in-law told me that Knight ran to his car.

Tommy had a passion for cultivating and selling cacti. He had recently broken his elbow badly and it required surgery, he couldn’t ride a bike or comfortably drive a vehicle at the time of his death. He was looking forward to healing so that he could resume white water rafting, going to the beach, and taking his friends along in the new truck he purchased with his business sales. He also had plans to go back to college.

Right before his death, he had begun his own landscaping business he named 805xeriscape. By all accounts, he was an incredibly self-motivated, talented, and genuine person. His death was initially ruled as a suicide, but the manner has been listed as undetermined. Did he fall to his death? Was he pushed? Was it accidental or intentional? His parents need answers. His parents say on the Justice for Tommy website,He was a deep thinker and very intelligent. Everyone who really knew him remembers him this way. He always had time to listen to people, and people have often commented on his kindness. The circumstances of Tommy’s death were disturbing, to put it mildly. It is precisely these peculiar circumstances which have inspired us to start this website.Mary Jane Jodry said, “Our family is broken. We are all struggling with his loss. It’s very hard on his sister and brothers.”

The latest update on the family’s GFM was December 23, 2020:We are very close to solving this case. We just need to hear from the person or persons who saw my son fall. Please, we are pleading for your help. There is a guarantee of $10,000 as a reward!

On February 3rd, 2020, 21 year old Caleb Nathaniel Smith was found dead, his nude body laying in a marsh 5 miles from the Flying J gas station where he was last seen. Just two days later, 20 year old Keeslyn Noel Roberts disappeared from the same gas station.

On Thursday, January 16, 2020, Chatsville, Georgia native Caleb Nathaniel Smith told his grandma that he was going to the nearby city of Rome to hang out with friends for a few hours. He told her to leave the deadbolt unlocked because he was planning on returning home that night.

Caleb stopped to get gas at the Flying J gas station/Denny’s restaurant near State Route 136 and I-75 in Resaca, Georgia (about 28 miles from Rome). He entered the gas station at 12:32 AM per gas station camera.

The gas station camera shows one male customer sitting alone at a table in the Denny’s section of the gas station; Caleb sits down at a different table facing the man.

A few minutes later, he calls his granny to let her know where he was, and that he didn’t have enough gas to get to Rome. He let her know that he was going to ask the man at Flying J for $5 for gas.

Caleb goes over and talks to the man on two separate occasions. It’s not known whether he gave Caleb money for gas or not. After the second interaction, Caleb goes and sits back down alone at the table facing the man.

He then gets up and leaves the gas station, never to be seen alive again.

Caleb’s grandma started getting very worried when he didn’t return home by morning, so she took it upon herself to drive over to the Flying J. His car was parked in the Flying J parking lot on the Denny’s side in the back of the building, out of sight of any cameras. Caleb’s grandma saw a suspicious white Nissan that freaked her out, so she decided to stay in her car. She called two family members to come be with her. When the family members arrived, the white car drove off. It is unknown if this car has anything to do with what happened to Caleb.

Caleb’s car was unlocked. His keys were on the floorboard. His cell phone was located in the glove box, and the battery was removed (also in the glove box). His car had half a tank of gas and was not on empty as he as told his grandma. His jacket was also left behind in the car, which was strange because it was a very cold night. His family then reported him missing.

Gordon County Sheriff’s Office officials say on January 16th and 17th, deputies searched the area around the truck stop, both on the ground and in the air, but their search yielded no results. It is also worth noting that the GCSO did not process Caleb’s car for evidence.

On February 3rd, his naked body was found 5 miles away from the gas station in a marshy, overgrown area of the county between the Sugar Valley and Hill City communities. According to the sheriff’s office, a citizen had found him in a poorly drained, heavily overgrown area. Earlier in the day, the fire department had been dispatched to the same general area in reference to a brushfire. It is unknown if the fire is related, and I can’t find any news articles saying that the fire in any way affected Caleb’s remains.

The initial report said that “no immediate indications of violence were apparent”, and the GBI autopsy revealed no indications of violence or evidence of foul play. The toxicology results showed he had died as a result of meth intoxication, and the death was ruled accidental. He also had Benadryl in his system. I investigated but can’t find any information regarding Caleb being a known drug user.

There were many shoe prints near where Caleb’s body was found, yet Caleb was found without shoes or socks on. He had no mud on the bottoms of his feet despite being found in a very muddy, marshy area. The only reasonable explanation I can come up with is that someone carried his body to the location it was found. His family wasn’t allowed to identify him – I’m assuming because of the state of his remains after being outside for days in a marshy area. Also, his clothes were nowhere to be found – they were never recovered, nor were his shoes. It is extremely unlikely he walked 5 miles, naked, unnoticed.

At the very least, someone is guilty of tampering with a dead body.At most, someone is guilty of murder.

Just two days after Caleb went missing, 20 year old Keeslyn Noel Roberts also disappeared from the same gas station. It is not known if these incidents are connected. Keeslyn has yet to be found, and there is a $6,000 reward for any information that leads to her safe return to her family.

When Keeslyn was last seen, she had entered an employee only entrance at the Denny’s part of the gas station. She was told by an employee that she wasn’t allowed to be back there and Keeslyn entered into an altercation with the employee. She dropped her backpack that held her ID, debit card, cash and phone charger as she fled the scene. A press release from the Gordon Co Sheriff’s Office confirms they were called to the truck stop that day about a suspicious female. Keeslyn’s white Toyota Corolla with belongings inside was found at the truck stop by her family on January 20. Some of her clothes were found near the trash dumpster at Flying J shortly after she went missing.

It’s worth mentioning that there is an active probation violation warrant out of Whitfield County for Keesyln – her initial arrest was due to drug charges. Her father, Eric Roberts, said Keeslyn does meth which is the same substance detailed in Caleb’s toxicology report. She was arrested a week before her disappearance for selling meth.

I also discovered, through information publicly available in news reports, Keeslyn and Caleb actually lived on the same street – Caleb lived at 4673 Old Federal Road in Chatsworth, and Keeslyn’s address was 4871 Old Federal Road. It’s definitely possible they knew of eachother, but Keeslyn’s dad and the GCSO says they have not discovered any evidence of communication between the two.

What happened to Caleb? What happened to Keeslyn? And are these cases connected?

Trucker’s Daughter Vanishes Under Mysterious Circumstances From Georgia Flying J

The Disappearance of Keeslyn Roberts

In June of 2007, college student Kelly Nolan goes missing from a night out with friends in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. Days later, she is found dead 10 miles away in a rural area across from some horse stables. There have been no leads in 13 years.

In the summer of 2007, Kelly Nolan, a fun-loving and creative student, was enjoying her vacation from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where she was studying journalism. She was just 22 years old, living alone in a sublet efficiency apartment on Mifflin Street in the heart of downtown Madison – a place she absolutely loved to be. Kelly grew up 15 minutes away in a much smaller town, Waunakee, and decided she wanted to enjoy the city life for a couple of months.

She had previously worked as a waitress at the Orpheum Theater, and though she was well-liked, she was let go two days before her disappearance due to lack of experience. However, she was still waitressing at the Madison Club at the time of her disappearance. Her co-workers told the media she is extremely responsible: she never missed work and was always on time.

She had recently been going through difficult times, and like many college-aged people, was having some trouble controlling her drinking. She and her sisters had lost their stepmother the month before, and their father the previous year. Kelly was convicted of drunken driving twice within the three years before her disappearance. Her driver’s license had been suspended and she served 14 days in the Walworth County Jail after her second drunken driving offense.

On Friday, June 22nd, Kelly went out to the bars with a group of friends. She became separated from them at about 11:30pm. They wanted to call it a night, but Kelly was having a great time and decided to stay at a bar called the Lava Lounge on West Gilman Street, located about half a mile from her apartment. This location is now a restaurant called Ramen Kid. The last known contact Kelly had with anyone was a phone call with her sister April early in the morning hours of June 23. Her sister has never said what exactly this phone call was about.

A young man named Andrew came forward to the media, saying he was with Kelly at the bar the night she went missing. He says he didn’t know Kelly very well, but he told police that after Kelly’s friends left, she stayed in the bar chatting with him for some time. He went through DNA testing and a lie detector test; his home and car have both been searched.

Tom Paras, owner of Amy’s Cafe, a bar in the State Street area, confirmed that his employee Andrew met Kelly at the Lava Lounge. Andrew claims he was going to walk Kelly home because another male bar patron had been harassing her.

“The guy was giving her the creeps,” Paras said.

The two walked out, but then Kelly asked Andrew to wait for her to use the bathroom.

“They were both very drunk,” Paras said, “And he admits he was stupid to have left her there when he saw her talking to that guy again outside, but he assumed they were friends.”

If Andrew saw Kelly being harassed by this same man inside the bar to the point he offered to walk her home for her safety, I do not understand why he would leave her there with him. It doesn’t make sense to me. But drunk people do irrational things, and I am sure Andrew feels horrible about this lapse in judgment. He has been cleared by the police.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the bar as well as neighboring businesses, but found nothing that shows Nolan interacting with the individual she was last seen with.

On July 9th, Kelly Nolan’s body was found in a wooded area on an elderly woman’s property on Schneider Road in the village of Oregon, Wisconsin, about 10 miles south of Madison. The owner of the horse stable across the street called the police after smelling a foul odor for a couple of days. Police believe she was killed where she was found, and according to On The Record with Greta Van Susteren, “another crime happened” when Kelly was dragged 25 feet into the woods that summer night. Her official cause of death was blunt force trauma to the torso with fractures. It is rumored she may have been purposefully hit by the perp’s vehicle.

“We have collected a lot of crime scene evidence and feel confident this case can be solved,” said Joel DeSpain, a spokesman for the Madison Police Department.

The Websleuths thread linked below has some interesting theories, primarily a man named David who lived in Mt. Horeb at the time of Kelly’s disappearance. David and his brother Stephen are persons of interest in the disappearance of Dubuque, Iowa woman Crystal Arensdorf, a 20 year old woman who was last seen drinking at a bar with the brothers on July 4, 2001. Crystal is presumed dead. Within two weeks of being contacted by police on Aug. 16, the brothers broke their lease, quit their jobs, and moved cities.

Dubuque police said the brothers gave inconsistent stories about that night, and polygraph tests showed the brothers may be lying. In 2005, David was charged with viciously beating and threatening to kill his girlfriend. David appeared to move around Wisconsin quite a bit: Mt. Horeb, Dodgeville, Cuba City, Darlington, and Madison. He has also lived in Missouri, Iowa, and Florida. In Wisconsin alone, David has numerous drug dealing/possession charges and DUIs, as well as a charge for a hit and run, and many more. Stephen’s record is cleaner, but he has his fair shares of Operating While Intoxicated as well.

There is no evidence tying David and Stephen directly to the case, but there appears to be no evidence tying anyone directly to the case. Another theory on the Websleuths thread is presented by a Madison local who runs a blog investigating the leader of a local newspaper who is a UW-Whitewater graduate and whether or not he is a serial rapist/killer responsible for Kelly Nolan’s demise as well as a handful of others in the Madison area.

“The passage of time in no way diminishes the heinousness of the crime, the guilt of the criminal(s), nor the need for accountability,” family and friends of Nolan said in a statement. “We and the authorities believe there are people in this community and elsewhere, reading this today, who can shed light on what happened to Kelly if they will only reach out and tell someone.”

John Summers, a former Madison police detective, is still working hard on the case.

“He continues to work with the family and to provide us with any information he can come up with,” Joel DeSpain said.

“An unresolved homicide is a crime against all of us,” Madison Police Chief Mike Koval said. “We absolutely feel like we can still find the killer or killers of Kelly Nolan, and that’s our intent.”

Anyone with any related information, no matter how small or irrelevant it may seem, is encouraged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
